How to go to Macau from Mongkok Hong Kong

Going to Macau is just an easy access coming from Hong Kong so we never hesitated to include it in our plans. We were very much determined to explore another city making it a worthwhile weekend journey.

There are options travelling between the sister (SAR's) Hong Kong and Macau and for me the most convenient and affordable way is via FERRY

FERRY OPTIONS

TERMINAL Options going to Macau via Ferry
  • HK Macau Ferry Terminal - Sheung Wan
  • China Ferry Terminal - Tsim Sha Tsui (TST)
  • Sky Pier - (HKIA) Transit Passengers

We initially bought our Ferry Ticket c/o Dragon Hostel Accommodation at a discounted price of $290 HKD roundtrip cost

The nearest from our location in Mongkok is via Tsim Sha Tsui Station and we had Cotai Jet Ferry which will bring us to Taipa Terminal South of Macau. Check sailing schedule at COTAI JET Official Site.

MTR Route from Mongkok to China Ferry Terminal

Mongkok Station –> Tsim Sha Tsui Station (5 HKD one way)

Note: Getting a cab is also a wise option here, but since we're 5 we just opted to ride the MTR again and maximize our Card credits.

WHERE IS CHINA FERRY TERMINAL?
We had our share of confusion, since the China Ferry Terminal is around 15 minutes walk from Tsim Sha Shui MTR Station. Please follow and read signs and don't hesitate to ask.

The Ferry Terminal is on this shopping mall so don’t get lost and go up on up on the 3rd floor.

Once we have arrived in the area we just presented our purchased ticket and got our assigned seats.

Macau is another visa-free city having it's own immigration procedure. All you need is to bring with you your passport and your travel document that was given during arrival in HK for immigration checking since you will be exiting the region.

TIPS and ENJOY MACAU!
  • Bring passport and tourist pass document
  • Proceed to gate entrance and get seat assignment
  • Go through immigration checking
  • Ferry Travelling time 60-75 minutes
  • It is advisable to arrive an hour before scheduled/planned departure since you will be on que for immigration checking before embarkation.
  • For day tour it is advisable to book a 2way ticket since evening trips are always full and crowded
  • Night Sailings have higher ferry rates
