I may have mistakenly use the word country to describe HK for some pages here, but yes I think everyone knows it is an independent region with a distinct political system and the same goes with Macau .

Well, this is just the start!
This has been a big trip, as we have been aspiring to travel abroad together. We have talked about it and 2014 was the year we've been waiting for.
Joining me are my childhood friends, the lovely ladies in my life, whom I grew up with and have shared the same imaginings with me of navigating the world.

It was perfect timing that finally all our schedules met, given we come from different fields and work has been the main priority in the past years. Aside from the budget, we needed to consider our responsibilities, job schedules and work demands as well as personal obligations. So we had 4 months of preparation to file for a vacation leave and save enough for weekend travel.
For our 1st international trip together we booked via Cebu Pacific Air 4 months early for a weekend getaway scheduled for June 2014, mainly for the well-known and celebrated Hong Kong Disneyland a long-time childhood aspiration.
WELCOME TO HONG KONG!
Hong Kong has some resemblance to Singapore in terms of having an efficient means of transportation, prices of commodities, the rise of business establishments with authentic food choices. Maybe more crowds and a busier country if I am to compare the difference. It's another distinct culture for us to appreciate and discover.
When we reached Mongkok area looking for our accommodation, it was to our amazement that we are able to walk freely and safely with no worries about people we come across. Holding different gadgets and taking pictures as much as we can. It is a city-friendly location for everyone.

As of the present countless agencies continue to offer different packages for city tours both for Macau and HK, making it really accessible to all Asians especially for Filipinos.
We did it on a DIY trip - a budget-friendly backpacking weekend suited much with our available time and preferences.

Given the accessibility, I also believed it's one suitable option to visit for first-time travelers. Although the language barrier was a little evident, we have internet access for directions and guides. And with luck and patience, you can still get some advice and help from locals around.
I have observed that HK has one of the lowest tax rates among Asian destinations when you book via Cebu Pacific Air. This I must say is an inviting reason that one traveler should include HONG KONG for their dream travels. Just my personal observation c",)
This has been my comeback trip, after my Singapore Holiday and my 2nd International trip.
I am much thankful for my lovely ladies to have also waited for me
and have considered my situation, as we push through with this big plan. I got a new job late last year 2013
and have patiently waited for 7 months, for this weekend travel.

To be exact that's 3 days and 2 nights and you may
say it was a quick one but it was the best weekend we ever had!
My office-mates commented about it, call it too short but it was all worth the wait, plus a day trip to Macau which I will also feature separately (see MACAU Links).

This is our first backpacking trip together and I call a true test
of a traveler - a Weekend Warrior. It was another fulfilling moment spending an
unforgettable trail of smiles in my unending journey to happiness.

In preparation for our
departure, we got all our supporting documents ready, including our Leave
request approval and Certificate of employment. We are more proactive in the
situation as we wanted to make sure we won’t be encountering problems as we
exit the country, being offloaded. Thanks to Cebu
Immigration!
A funny incident with the officer, since all five of us, were
assessed for our departure.
We were interviewed one by one, checking the purpose of our travel, employment status in Cebu, or what we do for a living in the Philippines.
This officer I believed was too amazed to have assessed all of us noticing all five travelers under a common status being single. Hey, Mr. Officer, we are very much in a Happy State :-)
It was a great pleasure to have been assisted by you, Sir!

Make sure to fill out the immigration form while onboard which either will be distributed by the airline management or you may find it ready distributed in your seat pocket.
