Every year I get to visit my 2nd hometown where my father grew up in Catmon Cebu. This is in the northern part of the Cebu Province an hour and 30minute ride from the city.
One summer we went straight to this town’s discovery the recently developed “Esoys Hot spring”. I remember I once visited years ago early 2000 with not that much development when my uncle just purchased the area. Now coming back I can see so much growth and I have also noticed local travel shows have featured it for tourism. The family then has finally decided to promote it to the public attracting both local and international tourist.
As big as our family we troop to this uphill spring and surprised our aunt and uncle. I’m happy to have met them again, I use to live with this lovely family for a year during my university days; I have witnessed the humility they have shown. How they live life so simply with their one and only daughter. I can see so much genuine happiness between the 3 of them. Now they are starting up and running this business, personally managed by the couple as well as their daughter serving as a guide once in awhile alongside with her father “Esoy” himself.
As I have spoken with my aunt it’s now part of their daily lives coming back and forth in the town proper then to the uphill spring considered to be their 2nd home and I must say its a grandeur place to live in.

The springs water content is made of sulfur, thus once you deep in, you’ll feel that soothing effect in your skin relaxing your body as you soak more. They said this kind of relaxation also alleviates any body pains, muscle soreness or any joint problems. Give yourself a try and the experience is worth it, at an affordable price for an unlimited day use.
For those planning to have an overnight stay, they now have constructed bamboo benches where you can rest and leave your belongings. This is a typical Filipino set-up closer to what we call “payag”. They also have restrooms and they offer meals per order. Just let them know in advance of your plans and I am sure they will be there to serve it to you. Also they are now offering cave tour, equipped with all safety gadgets.
