VIGAN Ilocos Norte Day Tour

It was a good time to be spending the weekend in one of my dream destination in the Philippines in Vigan Ilocos Norte. Deemed to be a perfect get away from the busy life in the metro and get laid back for sometime. I can remember back in Cebu I have been dreaming to get here, as we often see it in movies, ads, magazines being featured. As a child then I thought I’ll be able to visit that place and I should make a way to be there someday.

We have thought about it ever since we started working in Manila and luckily my cousin was more than aggressive to pursue this plan and made it realized even just for a weekend and yes we did it the backpacking way.

HOW TO GET THERE?
Plane – Manila to Laoag City then get a Bus Ride to Vigan City

Bus – Manila to Vigan City via Air Conditioned Buses in situated in Cubao (Dominion, Spartan Bus lines etc)

Vigan is around 9 hour bus ride from Metro Manila. There are a number of bus companies that travels to the North. From our place in Mandaluyong, we only travelled once going to Cubao where most bus terminals are located. It was during the busy month of December and there were a lot of travellers then. We waited and lined up for around 3 hours and we chose Dominion Bus lines that had the available tickets for us for that night. We travelled during the evening to maximize our time. So we are expected to be in Ilocos early morning the following day which is a Saturday.

We arrived exactly 4 AM, and walked along the streets of Vigan. We knew that we wanted to go the church first so we asked for directions. We were able to get a glimpse of St. Pauls Cathedral settled here, waited until the sun rises.

We were picked up by my cousins close friend, and it is where we settled down for awhile. They were very hospitable that they prepared for us breakfast that includes the famous Vigan Chorizo paired with coffee, perfect pair to energize us for the full packed Day Tour.

One sure thing I can advise for anyone to be here is try their Kalesa Ride and negotiate with the “kutchero” for a good deal that would bring you to some other tourist Spots. Better choose the bigger horses as they travel faster c’,) saving you time.

More or Less Php 500 – We already visited Ancestral House, Pot Making, Bell Tower and the Church.
