Legazpi Albay Cagsawa Ruins and Donsol Sorsogon Firelfly Watching

Legazpi is the main and capital city of the Albay province in the Luzon area. It is where we can find many beautiful and historical spots in the Philippines. One of which is the Mayon Volcano, though we missed seeing its almost perfectly symmetrical cone beauty but it was a remarkable weekend to have seen it thru our own eyes, with clouds covering it always amazed at Gods Creation.

This is another weekend trip with my UP colleagues. I was supposed to travel with 3 of them but unexpectedly my mate Yen2x who happens to pro actively organize this did not make it and just called us up 2 hours before our Saturday flight that it is impossible for her to make it. With the rest available, we flew altogether as everything was all set for us upon arrival - that includes reservation of our accommodation both Donsol and in Legazpi City  as well as an itinerary on hand, thanks still to Yen2x. Surely we are lucky to have booked another discounted airfare with Cebu Pacific for this.

Donsol Accomodation Receiving Area

Upon reaching Legazpi City, we went straight to our main destination, Donsol which is another municipality in Sorsogon province, an hour ride from Legazpi City

Just within Legazpi Airport we rode a van with a fare of Php150/head and  immediately proceeded to our reserved accommodation.

It's an affordable beach resort, giving you options to either avail a room with AC equipped or get one fan room instead as it is just beside the beach. You can give them a call for the reservation and just pay upfront.

This is another get away for those finding a quiet and serene place to stay away from crowded cities and pollution.

Just make sure to bring with you enough funds upon reaching the place, since they still don't have ATM machines operating, well they had one machine we found that time but it was closed during that weekend.

DONSOL FIREFLY WATCHING
Weather has been our challenge while we were here until night time that it stopped and gave us the chance for the famous Firefly watching.

It was one magnificent opportunity to have witnessed these amazing creatures. It was a universe of fireflies perfecting the night by cruising this 100 kilometer still river with a tour guide maneuvering our boat, sharing all great stories of Donsol. It was once in a lifetime experience I will always be looking forward to do it again and again.

The 2nd day was supposedly intended for whale shark watching but again this time heavy rains became unstoppable and with an upcoming typhoon, something that is out of our control. As they suggested, best season for whale shark watching is between February to May." Sadly we needed to leave Donsol, missing the gentle giants this time.

LEGAZPI Cagsawa Ruins
We went back to Legazpi City on our 3rd day and lodged in Legazpi Tourist Inn.

Heavy rains still poured in but at night time we just roamed around the city. We missed the Kapuntukan hill, as rain was unstoppable.

"Who will miss this opportunity of a tricking Photo Op"

Day 4 we proceeded to visit the Cagsawa Ruins in the town of  Daraga,  where we bought some handicrafts made especially by Bicolanos.

We have also spoken to young folks in this town in Daraga who approached us offering to take pictures for free. With our point and shoot camera we got this one trick, we shared a little amount to the teen and wished him well that he gains more knowledge into photography.

He shared he only learned it by himself over time and practice with the in flock of tourist visiting Legazpi. I can just imagine how many tourist he has entertained since then. Tourism has served its purpose, providing means of additional income for this young ones all for a genuine hospitability.

Spending our last night strolling in the "Embarcadero", one of the latest recreational development in the city with all with bars, restaurants arcades and souvenir shops in it.

Until we had to fly back to Cebu. It's one great Monday for everyone thoughme and my friend both got work related phone calls alternatingly while ready for boarding inside the plance. It was a call of duty and we had to answer precisely as we can. Until, the flight attendant had to call our attention to turn off our mobile phones for departure.

That very moment bothered me a lot. But I know I had to be responsible for what I am expected to do as an employee. I guessed i just needed to weigh on some priorities without sacricificing the other. After all this job is my bread and butter c",)

All in all, it was a relaxing weekend still for everyone despite some plans that did not materialized, work related phone calls. Nothing beats the feeling of going out of your comfort zone and following another trail even for a weekend to make you breath fresh air in a peaceful place and smile unstoppably.
